La calla perdida by Silinde-Ar-Feiniel La calla perdida by Silinde-Ar-Feiniel
La calla perdida (the lost road) is hidden deep in memories, a path that leads to what had been so that one can actually re-experience that which had happened

Inspired by Tolkien's "The Lost Road and other writings"

A speedpaint matte painting I made for a cover of "La calla perdida" , my personal experimental/soundtrack project

An epic music journey inspired by various Tokien's works

I'm here for another critique in my friend's art, and today it's special, since it's his beef-day. Yay.

Okay, firts thing I need to comment is the fact that this piece is accompanied by a song, please for the love of God, read the artist's comments. There are like 250 faves on this, but only 30 views on the music. And, I MUST say, this piece is not fully apreciated without the music. Since this is a two piece art, I'll analize both individualy.

PAINTING

Oh, only if the editors of Tolkien's books discovered this artist before. . . This piece is nothing less impressive that the ones in the actual covers of his books. Both statues, like the Argonath, guarding the way crossing the mountais, to lands of old. The ammount of details on the mountains are impressive. I can clearly distinguish each way and pass in those mountains. The gate and the statues, are each so full of details, details that by itselves can tell whole stories, the icy cover claiming their own part on it. A small ship sailing, daringly, trought the pass, defying the strong waters, to reach the other side. The towers in the distance seem to face and antagonize each other. The sunrays were perfectly done and reflected by the icy cap on the mountains, and is really the strong point of this piece.

I just feel realy uneasy about the water. Altought the splashes againt the mountains look realy astounishing, in the whole it looks really less detailed than the rest of the piece, but it still shows a nice reflection on the sunrays.

Subjectively, it looks to me that the left tower is the "evil" one, for its sharp, cruel top, like the pincers of some insect. If I'm not mistaken, I'd change it's position with the right tower, since the sunrays should be on the "good" one. But that's just baseless conjecture.

MUSIC

I can't really believe you did this only by yourself. Whole orchestras where summoned to do the LOTR soundtrack, and you by yourself alone made one that can stand tall amongst them? I'm simply without words.

The music in itself starts in a soothing way, as if we just started a new step on our great journey, after some troubled times. After the piano, the violins give out quite a little sorrowfull theme, a warrior's sorrow, as if we are mourning for a lost friend, regreting not being able to save him. After that passage, we get in a more misterious one, as if wondering what lies ahead, dangers, or hope. From that point on, the music continues sorrowfull, but with a little hope in it.

The music has no repetitions at all, wich is great. It says that you worked more, and have way more creativity than other average musicians.

There seems to be a little failure at 4:11, but it's almost imperceptible. It can also be youtube's fault for all we know.

That's about it. I said a lot, but I couldn't say less about this amazing work of art. And just reforcing it, HEAR THE MUSIC WHILE SEEING THE PAINTING, YOUR MIND WILL BLOW! Seriously, he must have had a lot of work in this, and it's all for us.

Last but not least, Happy birthday bro ;) Keep up the good work, we all have faith in you. Amazing work as allways
